Well, I followed the link back to Sweet Maria's so I now have the vaguest inkling of why it is designated "Black Sun". Wasn't that important, anyway. :-)

I have a few issues to iron out with my setup after that roast. The first temp is via a K-type thermocouple. It floated too much and, I believe, contacted the sides of the roaster, registering higher than true temps. The last roast was with a conventional thermometer in the upper register of the roast chamber, just into the very top heights of the bean mass during the last stages of the roast. So, it's probably a bit more true, especially if you factor in a margin of error of -5F.

See <a href="http://www.sweetmarias.com/roasted.pict-guide.html" rel="nofollow">this for more</a>

The temperatures for your roasts listed above are interesting. Wonder what all the factors are for the fact that a city + roast ended at 442F whereas another roast (the Mexico Nayarit) went to at least Vienna (maybe French) at just three degrees more at 445F?

Finished the Ipanema today. 58g in a 32oz Chemex. Nice. Never quite nailed a taste element, though.
