After watching this episode of Nature on PBS last night, I’m wondering if the only real hope for the honeybee that calls North America home is for a revival of small scale beekeeping? The mass agribusiness approach to bees may be lucrative, but I wonder if the stress is too great. So, if you’re so inclined, why not invest in your garden, your neighborhood, for the sake of fruits and veggies, and start a backyard hive? We’re talking, and now, my mental timetable is rushing forward.
After that, I must confess that man is no hope for anything. Only God can save the bees, in the end. So, a humble, determined approach to revive the bee hives in a spirit of humble dominion? A true redemption of our fallen nature, in practice? May it be so, Lord.
