There are always coffee shops in a nearby city, but they're being sold as lots, so there's nothing terribly accessible for me.

Short-term memory loss, eh? You'd better watch that and not let it get the best of you. :-)

Yes, it was on a local list--Craigslist Austin. You'd could probably find that grinder if you wanted to see it. It was part of a failed coffee house, cafe, etc. Seems that several have failed in Austin recently as there were about three different listings. Grinder actually looked a lot like my Proline, except that it was much taller.

It's been so long, I can't remember. As for CL, was it a local one for you? I keep looking for coffee stuff in my region, but there's little to be had here.

Do you step back on the grind setting when switching to the Chemex? I noticed a grinder on Craigslist the other day that had grind settings marked for each brewing method, including Chemex. The Chemex setting was one click finer than the French Press.

For me, I've been stretching things a bit more. I was eyeballing it up until now, so the regularity and consistency has improved things all around. But, interestingly enough, I haven't found the optimum sweet spot for the Chemex; 44 grams/32 oz water is too bland for me. Must be the filter.

I'm still enjoying the stronger brew over here. However, I have noticed that it makes your supply of roasted coffee go down a little more quickly than anticipated. Looks like I will have to do some roasting today.

Jason, you drink excellent coffee!!! It's strong, but I LIKE it. :-) Actually, though it was a bit stronger than I normally drink, it didn't seem to be that much stronger. It seemed to have a fuller body with sharper flavors rather than just be overwhelmingly strong tasting as one might have expected.

I think my wife might even like it this way since she dilutes her coffee with creamer anyway. We'll see.

Okay, I increased the coffee grinds to 7 tablespoons this morning. Coffee was excellent! Tomorrow morning (Monday) I will give 10 tablespoons a try.

I had the Sumatra Lintong rested at 7 days this morning, and it was the best its' tasted.

When I wrote this post, I was unsure about my count. Checked this morning, and it's actually 5+ scoops. So, around 10-11 tablespoons of java for a 32oz French press.
